Most people faced with a rat look for the quickest way to kill it. But a few keep them as pets. After all, one man's "vermin" is another's "small furry".

CavyRescue, a UK based rodent rescue charity. (That's right, you did read "rescue") has said it is setting up a specialist mammal insurance for owners of "small furries", such as guinea pigs, rats and ferrets.

The Small Mammal Vet Fee insurance will cover the costs associated small mammals' health and welfare.

CavyRescue's Jason Hulott says: "We all know how expensive vets' bills can be for our small furries. To X-ray a rat or guinea pig can cost up to £80."

Maybe Rentokil would be cheaper.
