Cox Insurance Holdings has expanded its retail division by opening a new call centre in Bradford city centre this week.

The company already has call centres in Solihull, Swansea and Brentwood handling Cox's personal lines insurance business including motor, home and travel insurance.

The company employs 1,300 staff, has a controlled premium of £470 million and comprises over 1.25m customers.

Cox recently announced that it will be the insurance provider of Freeserve's new e-commerce insurance channel that is set to launch in November.

Cox's Bradford centre already employs 60 insurance sales agents, all from the local area, and has a capacity to house a total of 200 staff. Cox operations director Maria Bourke will head up the centre.
