Faraday has appointed Michael Lange as its new chief underwriter .

Lange recently resigned from Cox where he was chief executive of the commercial division.

As well as acting as Faraday's chief underwriter, Lange will be the active underwriter for Lloyd's Syndicate 435.

Lange joined Cox as commercial division chief executive in September 2001.

He was formerly with Chubb & Son in the US and later vice president of Chubb Europe, based in London.

While at Cox, Lange was responsible for managing the run-off of the commercial division.

Meanwhile, Faraday has also announced the appointment of two new underwriters, John Roberts-West and Ian Bridge, formerly of the Markel Syndicate.

Roberts-West and Bridge will be responsible for the direct and facultative property portfolio business of Syndicate 435.

Two underwriters recently left Faraday to join Cathedral Underwriting. Simon King, and his deputy Robert Anglaret, left to head up a new direct and facultative property reinsurance unit at Cathedral.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
