Loss adjuster Crawford & Co has made 15 redundancies, including its head of technical services, Andy Homewood.

The company has closed its Preston liaison division, with two staff taking early retirement. Among those made redundant were secretarial and IT staff.

Crawford & Co UK managing director Mike Reeves said: "We have changed the structure of the business and these redundancies have been done over a period of time."

He said Homewood had left under an "amicable compromised agreement".

Reeves added Crawford was still recruiting staff in other areas of the business.

Crawford was recently dropped from insurer Groupama's loss adjusting panel, but has renewed deals with Legal & General and Norwich Union.

The company is currently looking to restructure its business to meet the demands of the domestic and corporate claims markets.

Reeves said Crawford was looking to lead the way in subsidence and fraud detection, as well as legal and corporate claims.
