International loss adjuster Crawford & Co has been drafted in to deal with the destruction that has followed freak floods in Mozambique.

With thousands dead and many more trapped in trees praying for rescue, local and South African insurers have called in Crawford to help repair the economy.

One soft drinks factory is believed to have lost £8m, while a brewery took a hit of £10.2m.

Residential property, stock, mobile plant and machinery have seen widespread damage.

Most of Mozambique's industrial development is in the south around the capital Maputo, although it is believed to have escaped the worst.
