The newly formed committee of the Creditors of Independent Insurance Group (CIIG) has written to all creditors and shareholders of the failed insurer, inviting them to join the class action.

The letter names the company directors, auditors KPMG, actuaries Watson Wyatt, the Department of Trade and Industry and the Financial Services Authority as the primary targets of the action.

It also said the committee had appointed BDO Stoy Hayward to act as treasurer of the CIIG's funds.

It urges anyone with specialist knowledge of Independent or who holds evidence in the form of a witness statement or actual documents to contact the group.

Forms for signing up to the group are available at insurancetimes.co.uk and inquiries should be sent to ciig@classlaw.co.uk.
