Independent Insurance has signed a three-year deal with The Equipment Register for the recovery of its insured parties' stolen plant and equipment.

The insurer will benefit from TER's expertise in logging equipment claims losses, risk management and retrieving stolen vehicles from as far afield as Israel and Ireland.

Tim Purbrick, TER manager, said that by signing up to a three-year contract it could offer Independent an advantageous rate for its business.

Andy Hawkes, executive manager at Independent, said that as a large insurer of heavy equipment it had been examining ways of improving its recovery of stolen plant.

He added: “We use risk management techniques to prevent equipment thefts, but this deal will give us a better chance of recovering stolen plant.”
