It is unclear how many of the 27,000 passengers with bookings on failed airline Debonair will be covered by insurance.

The airline went into the hands of administrators last week.

Tickets sold by ATOL-licenced travel agents should be covered for airline failure under the agent's compulsory insurance schemes, and credit card companies will reimburse the cost of tickets bought through them.

But individuals buying by cash or debit card will be unprotected unless they had taken out the one of the rare travel insurance policies that include cover for airline failure.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
