Ray Cox

Ecclesiastical has announced the appointment of Ray Cox to its group management board.

In his newly created role, Cox will be responsible for developing the group’s underwriting practices and capabilities across its businesses both in the UK and overseas.

Cox will report directly to group chief executive Mark Hews.

Cox brings 37 years’ industry experience and has previously held several senior roles at major insurers, including Brit Insurance, where he was UK chief executive, and Royal & Sun Alliance, where he was the UK director of underwriting and risk.

Cox recently left QBE where he held the position of chairman UK and Ireland national.

Ecclesiastical group chief executive Mark Hews said: “I am delighted that Ray is joining Ecclesiastical in this newly created role. His extensive industry and underwriting management experience will be a great addition to our existing team. Ray brings a unique combination of leadership, underwriting and risk management skills to the business.”

Cox said: “Ecclesiastical has a unique heritage and an outstanding reputation in its specialist areas. I’m looking forward to working with the team to build on these specialist credentials and further enhance the service we offer to brokers and customers alike.”

Cox will join Ecclesiastical on 1 August.
