Insurer one of four to win CommunityMark this year

Mark Hews Ecclesiastical

Ecclesiastical has become one of four companies in the UK to win a national award from Business in the Community this year.

Ecclesiastical is the third insurer in the UK to receive the CommunityMark award for leadership and excellence in community investment, and joins Prudential and Zurich.

The award is given to businesses that demonstrate community investment as part of their core business strategy.

Ecclesiastical launched its Helping Hands volunteering programme this year, which saw almost 60% of its staff volunteer. It has also established a charity partnership with Carers Trust and launched its Stronger Communities plan.

Group chief executive Mark Hews (pictured) said: “I’m incredibly proud of everyone at Ecclesiastical for making such a significant contribution to our communities not only in 2012, but in previous years. Considering how challenging and busy our jobs can be nowadays, it is amazing that during last year alone nearly 60% of our staff found the time to do good and lent a helping hand to those in need. I am proud to lead an organisation which gives so much time and financial assistance to so many good causes.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
