Finance director fills role vacated by chief executive Mark Hews last May

Ecclesiastical has promoted group finance director Ian Campbell to group chief financial officer.

Campbell, who joined the specialist insurer as finance director in late 2012, fills a role vacated by Mark Hews when he became group chief executive in May 2013.

Campbell has been performing some chief financial officer functions in the interim.

In his new role, Campbell will join Ecclesiastical’s board as an executive director.

He will assume responsibility for the group’s finance, actuarial and reinsurance operations and will be responsible for the delivery of the Group’s Solvency II project.

Hews said: “I am pleased to appoint Ian to take on this crucial role in our organisation. He has already delivered some outstanding results as group finance director over the last 16 months, leading our finance and reinsurance teams to improve profitability in the group’s specialist sectors.”

He added: “I believe Ian’s extensive background in insurance and reinsurance and his in-depth knowledge of the company have made him a real asset for our group and the best candidate for this position.

“Ian’s appointment means that we now have a very strong executive team in place, with several key appointments made since June 2013, and we are well positioned for the successful delivery of our plans over the next few years.”
