UK MD Jacinta Whyte says insurer wants to hear from brokers about how it can grow business

Brokers will hear about the changes that Ecclesiastical has made to its business over the past 12 months during the insurer’s first national month-long roadshow.

‘A Conversation with a Purpose’ kicked off on Monday and will see members of the new UK general insurance senior management team meet more than 150 specially invited brokers.

Deputy group chief executive and UK managing director Jacinta Whyte will lead the group, which will include group chief executive Mark Hews at some venues.

In the right direction

Ecclesiastical’s UK general insurance business returned to underwriting profitability last year, after suffering a £12.3m underwriting loss in 2012.

Following a review of its care portfolio, the insurer withdrew from unprofitable lines and made adjustments to both its pricing and risk appetite in the sector.

Whyte said: “The Ecclesiastical team has been on quite a journey and brokers will have seen changes in how we have repositioned ourselves for future success. The first part of that journey is now over.

“What we want to do is hear from brokers about how we can grow our businesses together and what they need from us to make that happen.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
