Backchat was again disappointed to be overlooked by the Sunday Times Rich List published last Sunday. But was delighted to see Admiral boss Henry Engelhardt coming straight in at number 326 with a fortune of £145m following the successful float of the motor insurer last year.

Engelhardt was joined by Axis Capital boss John Charman, also on £145m. The highest placed from our industry was Sean Quinn of Quinn-direct fame at 49 with £810m - surely plenty of reserves there, should there be a claim or two.

Benfield's Grahame Chilton slipped from position 530 last year to 607 this year, even though his fortune went up £5m to £80m.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
