North east is worst hit

Twenty-eight Environment Agency flood warnings are in place following heavy rain over the weekend.

The worst-affected area is the north east, though the south east, south west and Wales are also at risk.

Flash floods in Greater Manchester damaged around 100 homes on Sunday, according to the BBC.
