Heavy rain due to cause more flooding in Midlands and South West

More heavy rain later today could hit parts of England after floods led to several people being rescued from homes and roads.

More than 80 flood warnings are in place, mainly in the South West and Midlands, with nearly 140 flood alerts across England, the BBC reports.

Torrential rain is forecast for later, although Friday is due to be a drier day.

The Environment Agency said it would “urge people to remain vigilant”.
