Mick Summersgill joins insurance run-off team as director

Ernst & Young has appointed Mick Summersgill as a director in its recently created dedicated insurance run-off team.

He joins from Zurich, where he was the chief financial officer for discontinued operations in the UK.

In a statement Ernst & Young said that Summersgill would be instrumental in developing the team’s strategic restructuring proposition while focusing on the delivery of restructuring and exit solutions for legacy insurance business.

He brings a wealth of significant experience to his new role. At Zurich, he assisted the chief executive officer of discontinued operations in managing one of the largest run-off portfolios currently under management in the UK (re)insurance market, comprising Zurich Specialities London and Eagle Star Insurance and its subsidiaries.

Summersgill is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and is qualified in insolvency. Before joining Zurich, he worked in the insurance solutions team at KPMG.
