Eurobase has signed a deal with Gerling Re's London office to update the reinsurer's IT infrastructure.

Gerling awarded the contract to Eurobase after the software provider met 21 criteria set down by the reinsurer.

The contract will see Eurobase provide ongoing IT support via its Smart-Sourcing service, following the update of Gerling's systems.

Gerling senior manager of operations Geoff Banks said: "Eurobase's outsourced SmartSourcing service is already well established in the City of London and will provide us with excellent response times to our ongoing IT needs.""

Eurobase recently signed up Lloyd's brokers Humphreys Haggas Sutton (HHS) and Marine Aviation & General (MAG) to SmartSourcing.

Earlier this year, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) dismissed a complaint from Eurobase alleging that Lloyd's processing company Xchanging was abusing its market position.

The OFT ruled that it had found no evidence to support Eurobase's allegations.

Following the ruling, Eurobase has announced plans to take its complaint to the European Commission.
