Major reinsurance intermediary Benfield Group has expanded into central and Eastern Europe, opening offices in the Czech Republic and Slovakia to trade under the name Benfield Greig.
The group says that all customers in both countries have chosen to transfer their portfolios, making Benfield Group the leading reinsurance intermediary in the region.
The offices will offer reinsurance broking and risk advisory services in all classes of business.
Customers will also be able to access quantitative analytical, capital markets and reinsurance advice and solutions, via Benfield ReMetrics.
Benfield Group says the new offices are the result of acquiring the Czech and Slovak-based team of reinsurance broker, BMS Harris & Dixon.
Tomas Novotny will head up the Czech office while Andrej Cernak will lead the Slovakian team.
Chief executive Grahame Chilton commented: "This is a significant development in Benfield Group's outreach. Our expansion into these growing Central European markets is a sign of our continued development as a global player, with genuine local expertise."
