The Welsh Wizard has weaved his magic to head the table in the QBE Fantasy Football after an eventful weekend of results.

Managed by Wales-based Richard Davies, a director at IFA firm Prism IFM, the Welsh Wizard team has accumulated an impressive 55 points.

This is thanks to including Arsenal stars Francesca Fabregas and Emmanuel Adebayor who have gained 23 points between them.

Davies says: “I put in Adebayor late on Friday night and he luckily went on to score a hat trick. But of course it is early days in the league.”

The team name has a bit of a lucky history, after Davies won a summer fantasy cricket competition with the same name, and with it a holiday to see England play Sri Lanka over the winter.

“After I won the cricket competition I thought I would keep the name.”

Liverpool fan Davies has also been served well by including Liverpool’s Jose Reina in goal and centre back Jamie Carragher in his side.

But brokers are not far off the pace, with Swinton’s David Jones, and his interestingly titled, Stanley Park Theatre of Dreams 2010, in third place.

And the top ten is not all men and not all British. In seventh place is QBE’s Ukraine-based Anna Vovchenko with her team, Simply Anna.
