A turkey farm is suing insurer AXA for £238,000 after losing 15% of its Christmas turkeys after a flood.

AXA refused to pay out because it said its policy did not cover flood or business interruption.

Feathers were ruffled when heavy rain spoiled a compressor causing a rise in temperature that affected 15% of turkey carcases awaiting delivery last Christmas.

Southdown Turkeys of Sidlesham, Chichester is also suing brokers Williamson Moore for breach of duty in not telling Southdown the policy did not cover the economic consequences of flood.
