Ewen Gilmour appointed non-executive director

Antares, the specialist Lloyd’s insurance business, has appointed former Chaucher chief executive Ewen Gilmour as non-executive director of Antares Holdings Limited, the group’s Bermuda based holding company.

Gilmour currently holds a non-executive director position at Xchanging Insurance Services, as well as being on the board of Antares Managing Agency Limited (AMAL), which was formed in January 2010 to manage Syndicate 1274 and is a subsidiary of Antares Holdings Limited. In addition, he serves on the Council of Lloyd’s and has been a deputy chairman of Lloyd’s for four years.

He spent 11 years at Lloyd’s insurer Chaucer Holdings, joining initially as finance director and serving as its chief executive from 1999 until his retirement in December 2009.

Stephen Redmond, chief executive of Antares Holdings, said: “Ewen has played an integral part in Antares’ business development, especially during the launch of Syndicate 1274 in 2008 and the formation of our managing agency AMAL earlier this year.

"His wider experience of the City and running a major insurance company will be of immense value to Antares Holdings Limited as we continue to develop the business.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
