Lloyd’s broker AFL hires Lockton former head of broking to run property practice

Lloyd’s broker AFL has launched a property practice and hired Lockton’s former head of broking to lead it.

Neil Crouch will join AFL, taking on the role of director of property.

The practice’s focus will be on expansion in the North American and Caribbean property markets.

Crouch commented: “AFL is working hard to stand out from the crowd, both in terms of the bespoke and highly innovative services it offers its clients, and also through its in-house ethos - offering flexible, collaborative working in a way that is fostering a truly dynamic team. I look forward to growing AFL’s presence in the wholesale property market.”

AFL also revealed that it intends to expand its capabilities in energy, financial lines and surety and trade credit.

It is actively looking at insurtech collaboration solutions through its incubator division.

Speaking about the new practice, AFL chairman Toby Esser said: “We are growing our wholesale capabilities adding a Property practice is a natural next step for AFL’s business profile. Current market conditions make it a compelling case to enter this class, where there is a need for proactive products and services that fully harness the highly skilled underwriting capacity at Lloyd’s.”
