Steve Tidd becomes gets new non-executive position

Steve Tidd has returned to the insurance industry as a non-executive director of Total Loss Settlement Services (TLSS).

Tidd was formerly chief executive of GHL Europe and Zenith Insurance until he resigned at the end of July 2008.

He joins the board of TLSS which is chaired by long-standing industry professional, Tony Lancaster.

Formed in 2002, TLSS is a specialist in total loss valuations and settlements. It utilises a sophisticated software solution to accelerate the efficiency of the claims cycle.

David Patten, director of engineering at TLSS, said: “Our service is designed not only to determine the right value, but settle the right value for both insurer and customer as quickly and efficiently as possible. Our engineers manage the negotiation process with the insured which removes any adversarial element from the process as they are seen to be providing independent, qualified information. And it works. Our track record of settling 93% of our valuations with the insured within 48 hours is testament the quality of our proposition and our people.”

Tidd added: “TLSS has carved out a unique position for itself in the motor insurance marketplace. It is the only provider of total loss claims services that applies the intelligent use of technology combined with the expertise of engineering professionals to deliver a service that is proven to save insurers money without compromising their relationship with their customers.

“At a time when motor insurers are facing greater pressures on both internal resources and operating margins, I believe there is tremendous potential for TLSS to extend its service offering. In my view, its ability to deliver time and cost efficiencies to insurers as well as valuable management information together with a highly personal service to the insured is a win-win for all concerned. I’m delighted to join the Board and relish the opportunity to help TLSS achieve its growth ambitions.”
