Fortis has reported gross written premium (GWP) of £418m for the 2003 third quarter.
This represented an 8% increase on the 2002 third quarter figure of £388m.
In the SME commercial market, Fortis' GWP increased to £29m, compared to £18.6m in 2002. Household GWP increased by 14% to £70.8m, compared to £61.9m in 2002.
Private motor GWP stood at £291m, compared to £287m in 2002.
Travel GWP increased by 39% to £19.8m, compared to £14.2m in 2002.
Fortis attributed the increase in travel business partly to its winning the
Post Office account earlier this year.
Chief executive Barry Smith said: "While premiums have remained broadly flat in motor, we have maintained our strong market position. Our [private motor] policy count is at an all time high, clearly establishing Fortis as one of the largest private car insurers in the UK."
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
