Belgian-Dutch parent of UK insurer to appoint new chief executive and board.

Fortis, the Belgian-Dutch parent company of the UK insurer, is to appoint a new board and replace chief executive Filip Dierckx, following its $11.2bn bailout by three European governments.

The company, which includes the international insurance divisions, is to hold a shareholders meeting on December 1 and 2.

It was effectively nationalised by the Belgian, Dutch and Luxembourg governments in September when it fell victim to the credit crunch.
