Insurer signs five year capacity deal

Fortis Insurance has signed a five year deal to provide Primary with £50m of capacity annually.

It replaces AXA as the major capacity provider for UKU Underwriting (UKU), part of the Primary Group.

Fortis UK chief executive Barry Smith said: “This significant new deal supports out strategy in the UK to further widen our distribution channels and broaden our product width, and is further evidence of the strength of our proposition in these markets. I am confident that we will continue to grow and develop UKU’s business in its core markets, further enhancing and innovating the combined proposition. This is another example of our desire to invest and grow our business in the UK.”

Philip James, chief executive of Primary Group, said: “We would like to thank AXA for all their support over the past three years, but both organisations felt that they would be best served through pursuing their own strategies independently.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
