PEOPLE First to help people injured by negligence

People injured by negligent parties can now turn to a free advice service for help.

The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) has launched PEOPLE First.

People First will be guided by an independent consumer panel which includes former chairman of the Health and Safety Commission, Sir Bill Callaghan and Neal Stone of the British Safety Council.

APIL says PEOPLE First will cut out middlemen who sell injury victims cases to law firms and also insurers who want to settle the case too quickly.

The body intends to offer support in getting medical treatment, bringing the incident to the attention of the local authorities, advice on legal options and benefit entitlements.
