Record keeping, recruitment, training and competence were among the biggest issues brought up the Financial Services Authority (FSA) compliance roadshows.

The British Insurance Brokers' Association-organised (Biba) roadshows, sponsored by Insurance Times, were held across the UK over the past month.

This week's event was held over two days at The Chiswell Street Brewery in London.

Speakers included Biba chief executive Mike Williams, training and competence experts Robin Wood and Ian Ritchie of RW Associates and General Insurance Standards Council (GISC) spokeswoman Catherine Nicoll.

Wood said more than 200 quality brokers, insurance compliance managers and accountancy specialists attended the roadshows.

Ritchie said the most frequently aired issues in the open forums was the need to understand the FSA's financial requirements as soon as possible and how to get "fit and proper" in time for the regulatory changeover.

The GISC will hold its own compliance conferences on 10 May, 14 June and 2 July in London.
