Broker also expanding geographical reach of trade credit practice

Arthur J Gallagher has made a bid for R K Harrison’s trade credit operations director Shaun Purrington, Insurance Times understands.

The broker is looking to expand its credit and political risks practice and has today announced two senior hires which bring expand its geographical presence.

Don Harkey has joined the New York practice and in a joint venture with Gallagher’s Nordic partner Brim AB, Karl Lundell has been recruited to establish a presence in Dubai. Both will report into Mark Gubbins, managing director of trade and credit, who is based in London.

Gubbins said: “Having built such a strong resource in London we are committed to expanding the geographic scope of our business and enhancing our service offering by attracting new talent – these two new initiatives are testaments to our commitment and we welcome the expertise that Don and Karl bring to our team.”

“With Don and Karl we now have 30 employees dedicated to credit and political risks insurance with operations in London, Singapore, New York, Sydney and now Dubai.”

R K Harrison said: “We have been in discussion with Shaun for some time trying to deal with issues of work life balance. We are delighted if he has been able to resolve those matters with a new employer and wish him well for the future.”

Gallagher declined to comment on Purrington.
