Crosbie joined Pen from Fusion last year

Gareth Crosbie

Arthur J Gallagher’s UK underwriting agency Pen Underwriting has promoted Gareth Crosbie to the newly created role of claims director.

The promotion hands Crosbie responsibility for claims functions across the entire unit. He was previously claims director for Pen’s commercial division.

He will report to Pen’s chief underwriting officer Martin Hall.

Crosbie joined Pen in October 2014 from Towergate’s Fusion Insurance unit, where he was UK claims manager.

He began his career at Aviva predecessor insurer General Accident in 1989, specialising in commercial property and liability claims.

Hall said: “Promoting from within wherever possible is a key part of Pen’s talent management agenda and Gareth’s breadth and depth of experience – both from a technical and leadership perspective – made him a natural fit for this newly created strategic role.”

Crosbie added: “I’m a passionate believer in combining strong technical skills with smooth and effective claims processes in order to deliver excellent customer service. Every specialist underwriter with delegated claims authority must be able to demonstrate the extra value they bring to the table.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
