Lloyd's has signed an agreement for a central, low-cost connection to WISe Trusted Trading – the insurance industry's electronic framework for internet transactions.

It provides access for all managing agents and the central services departments of the Lloyd's Corporation – LPSO and Lloyd's Claims Office.

Users will also have access to a complementary service called e-market.

This provides support for web-enabled applications as well as secure email and ecommerce, and is already used by most managing agents.

WISe Trusted Trading and e-market are both provided by British Telecom.

WISe chief executive Kevin Ashby said: "In joining WISe Trusted Trading, Lloyd's is both enlarging the WISe electronic trading community and adding its voice to the growing number of players who are promoting and benefiting from Trusted Trading."
