ACE European Markets Insurance
ACE European Markets Insurance (AEMI), the Dublin- based subsidiary of ACE Bermuda Insurance (ACE Bermuda) announces the appointment of Laila Hougaard as vice president, professional lines, in its London branch office.
She joins AEMI from another ACE group operation, ACE Europe, where she served as European underwriting manager, directors' and officers' (D&O).
ACE is expanding its directors' & officers' (D&O) department with the appointment of two new underwriters. Petra Wilson has joined ACE's London Market office - she has 11 years' D&O experience, most recently with Aon.
Frank Shaw moves from Chubb to ACE's Manchester office and will be developing the Leeds and Manchester D&O business in conjunction with ACE's D&O regional manager, Paul Cregan.
First Title has appointed Stuart Tooke and Jean-Claude Domaingue as underwriters.
Tooke and Domaingue join the firm from Countrywide Legal Indemnities, the Law Society's endorsed provider, which recently closed its London office.
Both have experience in underwriting all classes of legal contingency insurance and specialise in title problems relating to development sites.
Andrew Raine has been appointed as north-east consultant at cash plan provider HealthSure.
Primary Insurance has appointed David Edwards as business development manager for affinity schemes and direct business. He has more than 20 years' experience and joins from Carole Nash Insurance.
Kate Toole has been promoted to marketing co-ordinator from customer adviser at the Altrincham, Cheshire office.
UnumProvident has appointed David Manning as general manager for the north with responsibility for branch offices in Manchester, Leeds and Glasgow.
Previously Manning worked as national sales manager at Swiss Life.
Brokersure.co.uk (Brokersure), part of Cox Insurance retail division, has appointed Liz Latter as general manager, online trading systems. Latter has an MBA from Imperial College, London, and has 11 years' industry experience.
She joins Brokersure from her most recent position as managing director at Redbox Systems.

Crispin Speers & Partners have appointed Greg Ferguson as a broker.
Ferguson has been a leading broker within the market in recent years having initially worked in the accident and life areas of underwriting at Lloyd's. He recently worked for broker Willis.
Thompson Heath & Bond
As part of Thompson Heath & Bond's (THB) ongoing integration of the TL Clowes Group, acquired in December 2001, three directors of Lloyd's broker TL Clowes and Company have been appointed to the board of Thompson Heath & Bond.
They are Richard Rainbow, David Gray and James Martin and they join Karen Watson, TL Clowes and Company managing director, who was appointed to the Thompson Heath & Bond Limited board at the time of acquisition.
Ward Evans Corporate has put in place a new board to guide the company through the next stage of its development.
David McGinnigle, who joined Ward Evans two years ago, is joined by Sandeep Sharma, who has more than 20 years' experience in insurance broking particularly in professional indemnity and affinity schemes, and Michael Mortimer, who has more than 20 years' experience with both insurers and brokers. He will be responsible for the renewals business.
Other board directors include Julian Connor, who is responsible for the administration, claims and small business units and Glasgow-based Derek Templeton who joined Ward Evans Corporate two years ago as an account executive. He will be responsible for new business, default sales and enhancements.
Martin Ward, a founder of Ward Evans Group also joins the board in an advisory capacity.
Kyle Rhodes has been named national accounts manager for GE Employers Reinsurance Corporation's (ERC) property and casualty North American direct business. He and his team are responsible for US property and casualty treaty business.
Rhodes has been with ERC since 1997 and has held treaty underwriting/account management positions on the national accounts team and most recently in the specialty division.
Before he joined ERC, Rhodes worked for Aetna Life & Casualty and at Fireman's Fund.
Joanne Watson has joined Amicus Legal from AXA Investment Managers to develop the staff relations service.
Law firm Hill Dickinson has appointed solicitor Ian Emery to its fraud team.
He joins the team, which is headed by partner Howard Young, from Hammond Suddards Edge in Manchester. A law graduate of Newcastle University, Emery trained with Mace & Jones in Liverpool.
Ernest Kay, who recently retired from his position as director of LBT Services, is now in practice with Hogarth Chambers, specialising in patent and other IP matters and related technology insurances.
He is also an adviser to the European Commission in its efforts to set up European patent litigation for SMEs.
Middleton Potts has appointed a new partner, Darren Hanison, who specialises in insurance and reinsurance.
After training at a leading city law firm, Hanison joined the Lloyd's office of Davies Arnold Cooper and then moved to Richards Butler. He also gained considerable in-house experience as the UK and Ireland E&O claims manager at Chubb Insurance, before returning to private practice.
