Broker

Cooper Gay
The Cooper Gay Group has appointed James Summers as chief executive of its Lloyd's broking arm, Cooper Gay & Co.
Summers joined Cooper Gay in 2002 as managing director, marine & aviation, and has been instrumental in the development of the division. He has 23 years' experience within the London and international reinsurance industry, working in director level positions for Blanch Crawley Warren, Heath and Bowring.
Steve Barton, currently deputy managing director, marine & aviation division, has been appointed managing director. Barton has considerable experience having spent 30 years in the marine insurance industry.
Both appointments are subject to regulatory approval.

Marsh
Marsh has appointed a new development executive in Exeter to develop business in the area.
Helen Clark has joined Marsh's risk trading practice, which delivers a wide range of commercial insurance products to small and medium-sized firms from 13 locations around the UK.
Clark comes to the position from Aon. She has worked in the industry for 19 years, including several years with Marsh in Cardiff. In her new role, she will develop new business revenue across the South West.

Ropner
Ropner Insurance Services has appointed Richard Steel as deputy managing director of the company.
He will continue to head the company's marine division as managing director.

Insurer

RBS
The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has appointed Eugene Dimitriou as head of alternative risk transfer, global banking & markets.
Dimitriou joins RBS from Morgan Stanley where he was director responsible for cross product coverage of UK insurance companies.
In this new role at RBS, Dimitriou will work with insurers and reinsurers which want to sell or securitise a range of insurance risks.

Groupama
Groupama Insurances has announced the senior management appointment of Claire Ginnelly, who will be joining Groupama Healthcare as head of healthcare solutions in January.
Ginnelly will head the company's growing business development activities in the UK's specialist healthcare sector.
A key member of the senior sales and distribution team, she will lead the Groupama Healthcare key account management team that works closely with the company's key healthcare partners and supports the particular business needs of these highly specialist intermediaries.
She has over 20 years' experience in the health insurance arena from senior customer facing appointments at Standard Life Healthcare, WPA and Norwich Union Healthcare, Ginnelly will bring invaluable experience and knowledge to her new role.

Markerstudy
Markerstudy Insurance Group has appointed Wendy Hilder as group underwriting manager. She was formerly a director of Link Underwriting.

Wellington
Wellington Underwriting Agencies has promoted Huw Jones to divisional underwriter responsible for the energy account.
Jones, previously divisional underwriter for energy liability, takes on the role of divisional underwriter for the whole energy account at Wellington which will embrace both property and liability underwriting.
With 17 years of industry experience, Jones joined Wellington in December 2005 and was previously employed at the Catlin syndicate where he was responsible for the energy account.

Davies Managed Systems
Mark Grocott has been appointed to the board of Davies Managed Systems as director of operations.
Darren Martin and Simon Herriman have been appointed as associate directors responsible for IT and management information respectively.

MVRA
MVRA, the trade body for repairers, has appointed a new business development manager. Jason McSorley takes on the role to build the membership of the MVRA network which currently stands at over 2000 repair shops.
McSorley is widely known throughout the repair industry, having spent the past seven years with Audatex, a leading provider of computerised estimating and claims management systems. He also has hands-on experience of the repair business having worked his way through the ranks from panel beater, to estimator, foreman and, ultimately manager of a body shop.

IUA
The International Underwriting Association (IUA) has elected Stephen Riley as its new chairman. Riley is an executive director of Global Aerospace Underwriting Managers. He takes over from Tony Medniuk, Group chief executive of Global Aerospace, who has been the IUA's chairman over the past two years.

Qdos Consulting
Business compliance consultancy firm Qdos Consulting has appointed Brendan Dawson as a new underwriting principal to head up its expanding insurance services division.
Dawson was head of underwriting at NIG legal expenses and creditor insurance. He has over 15 years' experience in the financial services industry.
