NIGSteve Symonds has joined NIG's commercial division as regional manager of the Redhill office. Symonds has 29 years' experience in the commercial insurance industry, most recently as manager of Scottish General Insurance Company, based in Glasgow.

Brown has joined from Royal & SunAlliance. David Aiston will be taking the role of regional director, north. Aiston has been with AXA since 1999. She will work closely with sales directors in London, Madrid, Munich, The Hague and Zurich. Rogers has eight years' account management experience in international private medical insurance, including roles with Aon Consulting.

He has joined Ace from XL Re, London, where he was managing a portfolio of international property business. Prior to that he spent 11 years at Chaucer Syndicate.

Jones has been with the syndicate since May 2003 and was formerly commercial lines underwriter at Faraday. He has joined from national insurance firm Weightman Vizards, where he was responsible for complex motor claims for clients including Zurich and AXA Corporate Solutions, as well as direct instructions from local authorities and loss adjusters.
MisysMisys has extended its FSA business unit with the appointment of a new regulatory support consultant, Bernie Leech. Leech has more than 25 years' insurance experience. He spent the majority of his career in underwriting and electronic trading development at Eagle Star, before joining Misys to manage the testing of an OASys development project.
Albis AssociatesAdrian Butland, chief executive of Underwriting Management, has entered into a co-operation agreement with insurance services company Albis Associates, with Butland taking on the role of managing partner at Albis. Butland started his insurance career in 1970 when he joined the Lyon Underwriting Box at Lloyd's. He then spent ten years working for HS Weavers (Underwriting) Agencies. In 1989 he joined Additional Underwriting Agencies (No4), where he handled syndicates in run-off. In 1990 Butland formed London Underwriting Services. In 2000 he formed Underwriting Management.

PractivPractiv, a provider of consultancy, IT and marketing services to the insurance sector, has appointed Paul Smee as a non-executive director.Smee started his career in 1978 when he worked as a civil servant in the Department of Trade and Industry. In 1988 he moved to the London Stock Exchange, where he held a number of appointments, including head of international relations. In 1994 he went to the ABI as head of life insurance and then moved to the Independent Television Commission, where he was director of regions and public affairs. Smee has been director general of AIFA since September 1999.
ABS Accident SolutionsABS Accident Solutions has made two new appointments.Jackie Woolley has been promoted to become the quality control manager at the Northwich offices of ABS. Woolley's new responsibilities include implementing and managing ISO accreditation, looking after the company's disaster recovery plan and handling training.Kevin Hesketh, who has previously held the roles of technical services manager and national network manager at ABS, has rejoined the company after a period of 18 months. He is providing part-time assistance as technical services adviser to manager Richard Miles in the ABS technical services department.
