HealthSure
HealthSure has appointed Christine Flanigan as business consultant.

She studied business management at Manchester Business School and joins HealthSure following 18 months spent as a project manager in a diagnostic cancer clinic.

XL Europe
XL Europe has established a professional lines underwriting team to operate out of its London branch. The team will trade under XL Professional, the brand name used by XL Capital's professional lines underwriting teams.

The London-based team will be staffed by the former professional lines underwriting team from XL London Market, part of XL Capital.

The team will be headed by James Weatherstone who will report to Dermot O'Donohoe as head of XL Professional in Europe.

Each XL Professional underwriting team concentrates on certain classes of business and targets specific customer segments within these classes. Joey O'Dea is responsible for the Dublin office while the development of XL Professional's business in continental Europe is led by Marc van der Veer, based in Amsterdam.

Congregational & General
Congregational & General has appointed Direct Line Insurance director Keith Charlton as its new managing director.

Charlton previously worked for Norwich Union until 1994 when he became a founding member and then managing director of Privilege.

Allianz Cornhill
Legal Protection

Bob Jones has been made claims manager at Allianz Cornhill Legal Protection based in Bristol. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.

Letsure
Residential lettings insurance and risk specialist Letsure, has appointed Kim Brookes as project manager.

Brookes, who has worked in the residential letting sector for nearly 20 years, including four years previously spent with Letsure, will work closely with the company's agents to review and develop insurance products and services for its substantial client base.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car
Enterprise Rent-A-Car has promoted Claire Oakes to UK sales manager to work with both its corporate and insurance divisions.

The position has been created by Enterprise to cater for business growth in both of these areas. She has worked with Enterprise for seven years and began as a management trainee in Manchester in 1996.

Spedding Goldthorpe (Brokers)
Spedding Goldthorpe (Brokers), based in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, has been the subject of a management buyout, by the existing management. Chris Dexter, who has been with the business since 1994 and previously director of the general insurance division will become managing director.

Julian Hale, who was previously account executive after joining the business in 1999, will become marketing and sales director with Dave Hemsley becoming director of financial services, after 18 months with the company.

Clear Group
Clear Financial Management has appointed Matthew Phillips as investment director. He was previously a senior manager at Deloitte & Touche Wealth Management, where he chaired its investment committee.

Clear Insurance Management has also appointed Jo Armstrong as property insurances manager. Armstrong has spent the past five years at city broker Stuart Alexander.

CTC Services
CTC Services has appointed Catherine Champkins to the non-marine division.

She has five years' experience as a claims negotiator within insurance company claims departments, and within a leading city law firm. She has specialised in the fields of public liability and employers' liability, both within the construction industry and commercial liability base. She will be based in the City of London.

Cunningham Lindsey
Maggie Cowing has been appointed London SAN regional manager for Cunningham Lindsey UK.

She previously worked for Ellis & Buckle for 13 years, latterly in its specialist adjusting unit. She moved to McLarens in 1999 as a major loss leader.

James Chapman & Co
James Chapman & Co has appointed two new partners to its personal injury department.

Stuart Hardy and Peter Walmsley both joined the firm as trainees in 1995 and 1997 respectively.

DWF
In the past few months North West law firm DWF has appointed 11 solicitors to its insurance, human resources and property teams.

The insurance team has grown by seven, Claire Shortall, Karen Ashton and Paul Scott-Griffiths have joined the Liverpool office, while Tonya Baxter, Tim Allen, Anis Waiz and Fleur Rochester join the Manchester office.

Andrew Nichol joins the property team in Liverpool, while Iona Sinclair, Matthew Yates and Gary Smith join human resources service DWF HR horizons.

Allen & Overy
Law firm Allen & Overy has appointed insurance specialist Philip Jarvis to the partnership.

Jarvis worked as an insurance underwriter at the government's Export Credit Guarantee department before qualifying as a solicitor in 1992, specialising in insurance.

He joined the International Insurance Group at Allen & Overy in September 1996.
