Insurers expected to contribute to consultation
The Government plans to raise the speed limit to 80mph from 70mph under plans being drawn up by transport secretary Philip Hammond.
Hammond said he would launch a consultation later this year with a view to introducing the new limit in 2013, according to The Guardian.
Insurers are expected to make a contribution to the consultation.
