The deal is the third Higos has completed since it was acquired by Global Risk Partners (GRP) in March 2017, following the acquisitions of Courtenay Insurance and Colin Fear Ltd.

Mellerup’s was founded by Arthur Mellerup in 1974.

Higos managing director Ian Gosden said: “The field sports scheme operated by Mellerup’s adds to our diverse portfolio of products, allowing us to expand our farming and rural life offering to our clients throughout the South and South West.

GRP’s chief executive, retail, Mike Bruce (pictured), said the acquisition of Mellerup’s is the latest in a series of planned deals by Higos to build out GRP’s UK hub strategy in the South West.

“This acquisition is a classic example of GRP’s hub strategy in action.”
