Telematics polices can save drivers 70% on their premiums: Autosaint

Halfords has signed a deal with Autosaint to fit telematics black boxes.

Autosaint policyholders can take their car to one of Halford’s 460 stores across the country to have a box fitted that monitors their driving and charges a premium accordingly.

An Autosaint spokesman said telematics policies could lower premiums for young drivers by as much as 70% compared to standard policies.

The spokesman said: “The insights from telematics enable us to calculate premiums based on how safely people drive and not how much of a perceived risk their gender suggests they might be. Telematics simply gives young people the benefit of the doubt.”

Halfords Business Services product sales account manager Clair Allen said: “We’re looking forward to working closely with Autosaint to ensure all telematics boxes are fitted efficiently and safely at a time and location that’s convenient to the policy holder.”
