Bermudian (re)insurer seeks to develop niche accounts

Specialist (re)insurer Hardy Underwriting Bermuda has appointed two senior underwriters to develop two niche business areas.

Jonathan Beck will manage a kidnap and ransom account from Guernsey where Hardy is establishing a new office. Beck has held previous underwriting positions with QBE and Hiscox.

Dominic Oldridge has joined from QBE to develop Hardy’s small book of crop reinsurance.

Barbara Merry, chief executive of the Hardy Group, said: "These accounts will add further short-tail diversification to the Hardy portfolio in sectors which have traditionally delivered above average returns. Our ability to attract talented individuals into the business is a key aspect of our long term growth plan and we are focused on providing the environment in which they can flourish."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
