New recruits follow last year’s MBO

Hastings Direct has announced the recruitment of a further 150 new staff across the organisation.

Hastings Direct was bought by its management from IAG at the end of last year. It recently announced another 150 new hires, taking its total this year to 300.

Hastings Direct has recently acquired Newmarket based specialist insurance company Renew and announced plans to pilot a scheme in which Hastings Direct branches are introduced onto the High Street, both of which have generated a need for extra staff. The new recruits will be based both at Hastings’ HQ in Bexhill and at Renew in Newmarket and are healthy signs that Hastings’ recent recruitment is not a one-off activity but a reflection of the growing business.

Hastings Directs chief executive Edward Fitzmaurice says: “2009 has started off as a great year for us, particularly in light of the difficult economic climate – the company is really heading in the right direction. Our recent augmentation has meant that we need additional people to help grow the business and take Hastings Direct to the next level.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
