HCC Specialty Underwriters has launched a consortium underwriting sports and entertainment cover.

The consortium is backed by Kiln Syndicate 510 and new partner Liberty Syndicate 4472, and will write a range of contingency business including event cancellation, non appearance, prize promotion and broadcast failure.

It will be led by primary underwriter, Rob Wood, who recently joined HCC from Zurich.

David Evans, managing director of London operations at HCC, said: "The establishment of Cubit acts as the final piece in the restructuring jigsaw. We are delighted to have Cubit complementing our existing suite of elite sports and entertainer disability products."

The company previously managed the enterprise consortium with Catlin, Kiln, Wellington and Beazley.

It was modified in 2005 to a jointly managed consortium with Hiscox, Kiln and Catlin.
