Healthcode, the private medical insurance bills clearing house, has deployed Zeus extensible traffic manager (ZXTM) to manage its web traffic.

It is claimed that the move will increase resiliency of Healthcode's secure custom web application, VEDA, which will process more than two million invoices in 2004. It will also enable the introduction of new services, such as secure messaging and patient tracing.

Healthcode is jointly owned by Bupa, Norwich Union, Nuffield Hospitals, AXA PPP Healthcare, FirstAssist and Standard Life Healthcare. Its web-based services provide the interface between hospitals' consultants and medical insurers
