Up to 40mm of rain forecasted for tonight –- almost half the expected rainfall for November

Heavy rainfall tonight will bring a risk of flash flooding to the South of England as up to 40mm of rain is expected overnight.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning as almost half the expected November rainfall is forecasted to fall tonight across most of the UK.

But the south, which could see between 15mm to 40mm of rain, will be the most affected as the ground is still saturated following the St Jude Storm, which hit the UK almost a week ago.

The rain is expected to clear up by the early hours of tomorrow morning, but will return on Sunday night with up to 40mm expected, again bringing with it a risk of flash floods.
