Catastrophe data firm says new estimate is based on more detailed information

Catastrophe data firm PERILS has increased its loss estimate from October’s St Jude storm to €1.09bn (£899m).

The storm, also known as Christian. hit western and Northern Europe between 27 and 29 October 2013 and caused storm damage and flooding in the UK.

The new estimate is 2% higher than the €1.07bn estimate PERILS issued on 27 January.

The company said the new estimate is based on more detailed data, with loss information available by CRESTA zone (two-digit postcode level) and by property line of business.

PERILS will publish its fourth St June loss estimate on 27 October.
