Hiscox is to fully roll out its belated internet-based quote system for high and mid-net worth products later in the year, the insurer has confirmed.

The quote system was originally touted as providing the vital framework for the relaunch of the insurer's high-net worth and mid-net worth policies. A launch was planned for last year.

But its development was put on hold. Hiscox chief executive Bronek Masojada said earlier in the year that this was due to it being "too complicated" and that the company was "working on improvements".

Sources close to Hiscox said the insurer was now undergoing a "creeping launch" with some brokers and that the full roll-out would be "soon".

"Two weeks ago the 'help desk' took only one call, which shows it to be working OK," said the source.

Around 10% of Hiscox brokers are understood to be using the system at present.

A Hiscox spokeswoman said: "We are pleased with the feedback and are looking to roll it out later this year."
