Hampshire MP likely to oversee financial services

David Cameron has appointed Mark Hoban as financial secretary.

As financial secretary in Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne’s Treasury team, Hoban is expected to oversee financial services and taxation.

A former Pricewaterhouse Coopers auditor, Hoban has held the post of shadow financial secretary since 2005.

The Conservative MP for the Hampshire constituency of Fareham becomes the third ranking member in the Treasury team and takes over from Stephen Timms, who held the same post in the previous government.

Other confirmed Treasury appointments include Putney MP Justine Greening who becomes economic secretary, replacing Sarah McCarthy-Fry who also lost her seat at the general election.

And David Gauke MP, another member of Osborne’s team in opposition alongside Hoban, takes the job of exchequer secretary.
