Club Direct has launched a special travel insurance discount for Valentine's day.

The travel insurer is offering a scheme that can be used for short trips to Europe or the US in February or March, with savings of up to 56% on normal insurance rates.

The promotion will provide couples with full insurance for £15, £19.50 or £24 for two, three or four days' travel in America. In Europe cover is available for £5, £9 or £14.50.

Club Direct's travel policies cover £10m for medical and emergency assistance, with full repatriation and air ambulance support.

There is a full range of cover for lost baggage and money, missed departure and cancellation.

Worldwide 24-hour a day access to Club Direct's multilingual medical assistance hotline is also included in the plan.

  • Travel insurer Preferential is offering its worldwide and European annual multi-trip policy to all couples, including those who are unmarried, gay or lesbian.

    Prices start from £60 per couple for a European annual multi-trip policy and £88 per couple for world-
    wide cover.

    Director Steve Nickerson said the announcement was perfect timing for Valentine's Day.

    The Preferential policies provide up to £10m medical cover, up to £5,000 for cancellation and curtailment, up to £50,000 personal accident and 17 days' free winter sports cover.
