Debenhams, the UK department store, is for the first time introducing a warranty service to its entire furniture range as part of its growing furniture offer.

The store, which serves around 15.8 million customers, is building a strategic furniture platform and will add to its portfolio a five-year warranty scheme for structure, stain and accidental damage, supplied by Homeserve's warranties business.

Andy Kirton, Homeserve's Group Sales Director said:
“ More of our retail clients are beginning to view warranties as less of a revenue stream and more as an extension of its customer service policies. Whilst there is no doubt warranties can be financially lucrative for retailers as an additional sale at point of purchase, the concept of after sales care to maintain a long term relationship with the customer, is increasingly viewed as a much more valuable outcome. For Debenhams, who are actively building a new furniture offer, this strategy makes good sense.”

On behalf of Debenhams, Homeserve will support warranty sales training in store, liaise direct with its entire furniture manufacturer base to develop the repair and warranty policies, handle claims and commission the repairs with its network of engineers.
