Chief executive Coles has more plans for expansion

Howden has beefed up its North American property team and continues to scour London for talent.

The London broker, part of Hyperion Group, has recruited Mark Hutchinson from Miller, and another Miller broker, Jonathan Morgan, is set to join the US property and casualty wholesale team in the New Year.

The North American business began a year ago when John Plummer bought a team of eight from Benfield Corporate Risks.

Howden chief executive Tim Coles said he wanted to continue to expand this team, but also grow in financial institutions, directors’ and officers’, and errors and omissions.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
