HSA Insurance announced today it has outsourced its IT development to India without sacrificing jobs in the UK.

As part of a bid to tap into the accident, sickness, unemployment and critical illness markets, the health insurer said it had cut costs by outsourcing its IT platform to India-based Mastek.

All staff affected by the move have been redeployed into customer-facing roles, the company said.

Ian Maude, business services director for HSA said: “The quality of the system Mastek designed has been highlighted in its reliability - since it went live we have not had a single second's downtime, and response rates are all sub-second.

“We have proved that outsourcing major IT contracts to the Third World can be based on short term consultancy and be mutually beneficial, not a long-term threat to the UK job market and, indeed, to those very people who have helped make HSA what it is today.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
